Agawam police officer hit by car near middle school

AGAWAM, Mass. — An investigation is underway after an Agawam police officer was involved in a crash on Thursday morning.

Western Mass News reported that at 7:50 a.m. there was a pedestrian crash involving an Agawam police officer on Main Street.

The accident occurred near Roberta Doering Middle School, located in Agawam. When the Western Mass News crew arrived on the scene, police were setting barricades up with a vehicle behind to clock off a section of the road.

Western Mass News was told by the Agawam Police Department that the officers involved in the accident sustained non-life-threatening injuries and added that he was conscious and alert at the scene.

There is no confirmation at this time on the identity of the officer or the operator of the motor vehicle.
