‘Adorable’ pig expected to weigh hundreds of pounds needs special home

BOSTON — The Animal Rescue League of Boston is hoping to find a pig a new home - a large one.

One of the animal shelter’s newest residents, Clarendon, is a breed of pig bred especially for meat production and expected to weigh several hundred pounds when she is fully grown.

According to the ARL, Clarendon was left at a house in the Boston area by a relative visiting from northern New England. The Massachusetts native then surrendered the show to Boston Animal Control.

“She is constantly showing her affectionate and playful side, welcoming anyone who comes to visit, and excitedly running around her pen to the delight of ARL staff and volunteers,” says the ARL.

The ARL says that any adoptive home would have to be able to accommodate her expected gargantuan size.

Interested adopters can contact ARL’s Dedham Animal Care and Adoption Center by calling (617) 426-9170 x605, or by emailing dedham-adoption@arlboston.org.
