BOSTON — The battle for Boston’s radio dials was once again won by 98.5 The Sports Hub this winter.
98.5′s winter share was nearly five times the share of fellow sports station WEEI, according to the Boston Globe. The Sports Hub averaged a 19.4 share, finishing first in days, nights and weekends from January 5 to March 29.
The Globe reports WEEI took a significant drop since the fall, when it finished with a 9.0 share to 98.5′s 19.6 share.
WEEI recently underwent a programming shuffle that included bringing in former Sports Hub host Adam as an afternoon host, moving midday host Rich Keefe to evenings and scaling back the duties of Lou Merloni.
Here’s how each sports station’s respective shows matched up head-to-head.
Morning:
The Sports Hub’s “Toucher and Rich” (25.6 share). WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” (5.7 share)
Midday:
Sports Hub’s “Felger and Mazz” (20.7 share). WEEI’s “Gresh and Fauria” (3.1 share).
Afternoon:
Sports Hub’s Felger and Mazz (19.8 share). WEEI’s “Jones and Mego” (3.6 share)
Evenings:
Sports Hub Bruins broadcasts/ Celtics broadcasts/ rotating talk show (15.5 share). WEEI’s “The Rich Keefe Show” (2.8 share)
The Sports Hub also claimed the winter crown last year, finishing with a 16.3 share to WEEI’s 4.4 share.
