MELROSE, Mass. — Four firefighters were injured while fighting a fire on Penny Hill Road in Melrose on Friday night.
And two of those firefighters were sent to a local hospital, while the others were treated on scene.
Their injuries were unknown Friday night.
Two of the firefighters, who are Malden firefighters responding as part of mutual aid, were sent to Melrose Wakefield Hospital for treatment. The other two firefighters, who are Melrose firefighters, were treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, officials said.
A homeowner was working on a boat when there was a “minor explosion” and that fire spread to the house, officials said. Damages were estimated at $300,000.

Firefighters responded to the scene at 6:29 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of a fire.
The fire remains under investigation.
