BARNSTABLE, Mass. — A family walking along a Cape Cod beach was surprised when they stumbled across three small sharks dead in the sand.
The sharks were discovered washed up on Craigville Beach in Barnstable’s Centerville village.
In a statement, the New England Aquarium confirmed the sharks were smooth dogfish, which are often caught by fishermen and then discarded back into the water.
