2 arrested in Hopkinton as police continue summer OUI enforcement

HOPKINTON, Mass. — Hopkinton police are reminding the public about the dangers of drinking and driving as two people were arrested in Hopkinton this past week.

A 19-year-old was charged with an OUI and had a BAC of .270, triple the legal limit when his car rollover over. He was also charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation, according to police.

A 30-year-old was charged with an OUI and a had a BAC of .158, double the legal limit, when he left the scene of a crash and caused damage to his tires, according to police. The operator was also charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of property damage.

“This is a serious reminder to never take the risk and always get a sober ride,” Hopkinton police said.

Hopkinton police are currently on a summer OUI enforcement campaign funded by a traffic grant. The enforcement will continue through September 15 in conjunction with routine daily patrols.
