HINGHAM, Mass. — A 19-year-old driver was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Gardner Street on Friday night, police said.
The crash occurred around 11 p.m. Friday, when an SUV drove off the road and struck a large tree, police said.
The driver, a Milton resident, told responding officers that she believes she dozed off at the wheel, police said. She was taken by ambulance to South Shore Hospital.
The extent of the driver’s injuries or her condition were not known on Saturday.
The crash occurred occurred near 205 Gardner St.
Photographs released by police on Saturday show a mangled blue vehicle with heavy damage.
“She had just dropped off her 2 passengers right before this crash,” police said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday.
Police said the driver was cited for marked lanes violation.
Hingham Police and Fire responded to the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
