WOBURN, Mass. — A local father who lost a son has taken to Facebook for a special song request at this weekend’s Kenny Chesney concert.
The Briere family, of Woburn, lost their son Joey in a car accident five years ago. They hold two Kenny Chesney songs near and dear to their heart since his passing.
The Joseph Briere Foundation created in Joey's honor donates thousands to charity each year. An annual golf tournament was set up to help raise money and they use Kenny Chesney's song "Happy on the Hey Now."
And if Kenny Chesney can't play that one, Al Briere said the song "Who You'd Be Today" has "touched him deeply" since losing his son.
Admittedly, Al Briere says he has no idea how to reach out to Kenny Chesney, so he figured “why not try through Facebook…can’t hurt to try.”
So if you’re reading this Kenny Chesney, the Briere family would love to hear one of their songs played this weekend. And after reading Al’s letter, we’d like to hear them too.
