LEOMINSTER (MyFoxBoston.com) A 41-year-old Leominster man turned himself in on Wednesday after he reportedly tried to run down police officers.

Leominster Police responded to 297 West Street at about 5 p.m. on reports of a domestic disturbance. When police arrived to the scene, one of the residents, identified as Mark Swaine, escaped the home in a 1999 Ford pickup truck.

Police say a short car chase ensued, during which Swaine tried to run down two officers. A third officer managed to avoid being hit by Swaine after he reportedly tried to hit his car.

The 41-year-old is facing a slew of charges that include assault and battery, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), attempted murder by strangulation, intimidation of a witness, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for a police officer, marked lanes violation, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Shortly after the incident, Swaine turned himself in at the police station.

Swaine was held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday morning.

A male victim involved in the domestic disturbance sustained injuries to his face. An ambulance was initially dispatched to the scene as police were unsure about the extent of their injuries.
