YARMOUTH, Mass. — An obituary was published Sunday for the Yarmouth police officer killed in Barnstable.
After Officer Sean Gannon was shot while serving a warrant Thursday, the obituary remembered him for a "legacy of high moral integrity, infectious humor, and collaborative work with colleagues."
"Whatever Sean did, he gave 100% of himself," the obituary said. "He will be profoundly missed by his family, colleagues, and friends."
Gannon's mother posted on Facebook, thanking the community for their support after the death of her son.
"The obituary you never want to write is the one for your own child," Gannon's mother wrote.
The suspect in the shooting, 29-year-old Thomas Latanowich of Somerville, was allegedly hiding in the Barnstable attic when the death occurred and barricaded himself for an hour before his arrest.
