LAWRENCE (AP) — A Lawrence teenager is expected to appear in court to face charges connected to the fatal shooting of another teen outside a house party in the city last weekend.
Authorities say 18-year-old Ismael Calixto was arrested late Monday and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence District Court on murder and other charges.
Police say Calixto shot 18-year-old Richard Bonilla of Lowell.
Police think Bonilla was shot after a verbal altercation outside the party escalated.
Bonilla was shot at about 1 a.m. Sunday and flown to a Boston hospital, where he died of his injuries at about 4:30 p.m.
A witness told police the argument started after three young women showed up but were denied access to the party.
It was the second homicide of the year in Lawrence.
