Boston's Children's Winter Festival takes place today

BOSTON — A three-story-high inflatable snow tube slide known as Snowzilla will be among the attractions at the annual Children's Winter Festival on Boston Common.

The festival is sponsored each year by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department during school vacation week.

“This year's Children's Winter Festival has a great lineup of programmed events and free activities, and we are excited to be hosting it on the Boston Common,” said Mayor Walsh. “I encourage residents, families and visitors to take advantage of this day of fun and celebration.”

This year's festival will be held Thursday. It was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but was rescheduled due to weather concerns.

The festival will feature a DJ from Magic 106.7, a 15-foot-tall snow globe that allows participants to step inside for winter wonderland photos and free skating and rentals at the Boston Common Frog Pond.

The L.L. Bean Outdoor Discovery School will have instructors to lead a guided trek on snowshoes through Boston Common.
