DRACUT, Mass. — A Massachusetts fire chief pleaded not guilty on a strangulation charge in connection to a domestic violence investigation Monday.

Gregory Gagnon, 41, was arrested and charged with strangulation after he was arraigned last week on assault charges.

Gagnon, the Ipswich Fire Chief, was previously arraigned last week on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, witness intimidation and two counts of assault and battery on a household or family member.

That alleged assault happened on Sept. 14.
