GROTON, Mass. — New documents released Friday describe the scene officers found when they discovered a quadruple murder in Groton, Massachusetts.

According to statements given by police, Orion Kruase started "quietly singing" after he told police he killed his mother, grandparents and a caretaker.

The statements Krause allegedly made to two officers -- along with grisly details about the sprawling crime scene -- are things his attorney says shouldn’t be accessible to potential jurors before the defense can challenge whether they are admissible.

The judge ordered some documents sealed, like affidavits from a psychiatrist and statements from other family members. The court also redacted some other information before releasing the police reports, but the judge ordered the officers' statements released Friday.

Police say when they initially responded to the scene, they found Krause naked and covered in mud behind a neighbor's home. They also stated Krause said, "I freed them."

According to the paperwork, Krause told a nurse he takes heroin.

The report also goes into graphic detail about where the bodies were found and the severity of the physical trauma Krause’s mother, grandparents and home health aide sustained.

Friday afternoon, Krause’s attorney sent Boston 25 News a statement about the newly released documents, which read in part, “some details in those reports were more than the families of the people killed were ready to hear. Now those details will be unavoidable. As for my client, his mental state at the time of his arrest is an open question. No one should make any assumptions about anything he is alleged to have said, including that any of it was actually true.”

Krause is due in court Oct. 30 for a status hearing on a mental health evaluation. The 22-year-old has pleaded not guilty to the crimes.
