Holliston puppy thief sentenced to a year behind bars

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A man who stole three puppies worth nearly $4,000 from a Holliston kennel has been sentenced to a year behind bars.

The MetroWest Daily News reports that 32-year-old Paul Griffin pleaded guilty Monday to receiving stolen property.

Authorities say the Plainville man and two others stole two boxers and a Labrador retriever from the Pik-A-Pup kennel in October. Employees told police three people came into the store before the theft and asked about the puppies, but left without buying them.

An anonymous tip about photos of the puppies posted on social media led police to the defendants. The dogs were returned to the kennel unharmed.
