DENVER, Colorado â Teacher Kyle Schwartz, of Denver, wanted to get to know her third-graders at Doull Elementary School better, so she asked them to write a note, with the theme "I wish my teacher knew..."
She said she was stunned by their honesty.
Schwartz was also stunned by the chord she struck not just in other teachers but by anyone who is touched by the raw feelings of a child who is suddenly freed to express them.
The notes she shared through her Twitter account have gone viral, not just around the United States but around the world.
Schwartz said 92 percent of her students qualify for free and reduced lunches and the lesson was intended as a way for her to understand their daily lives better. (Source:

She said the students were offered anonymity, but most of them not only wanted to put their name on the notes but also wanted classmates to know what their notes said.
