BOSTON — Coronavirus cases have been climbing recently, but can we expect that to continue into the summer? Dr. Paul Sax, Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital speaks to Boston 25 News about the latest surge and what that could mean for Massachusetts in the coming months.

“There are some models that demonstrate we are at or near the peak of this new surge but we are following new strands of “BA 4″ and “BA 5″ that emerged in South Africa and that also have some immune evasive properties,” said Dr. Sax. “I don’t think we are going to be done with COVID anytime soon, but I do hope summer months give us some respite, they have in the past, and I’m hopeful that will happen again.”
