BOSTON — How about going on a photo safari project during vacation week? Many people are left wondering, what should they do for vacation week, and for the holiday weekend, and for Valentine’s Day?
“Despite everything, it’s still a busy travel weekend for those weekend warriors. we have Valentine’s Day, and Presidents Day,” said Julie Loffredi, a travel editor for insuremytrip.com.
Loffredi said families, couples, and people are still looking to get away for the long weekend and can still score deals online – even with travel restrictions.
“Heading up north, New Hampshire, White Mountains, Maine, Rhode Island, maybe Boston, Berkshires, maybe heading to the Cape” said Loffredi.
From vacation rentals, to hotel rooms, Loffredi said there are a ton of last minute deals online on websites like booking.com, and vrbo.com.
“A word of caution, if you plan on heading up north for a ski trip, for a ski getaway. you really have to plan in advance. A lot of places require advanced reservations, keep that in mind,” said Loffredi.
And that’s where our story takes us skiing to Blue Hills reservation in Canton, where we met Heidi Brown, a high school coach.
“Skiing at Blue Hills or Wachusett or Nashoba Valley is a great way to start a weekend, and February school vacation week,” said Brown.
Brown is also tackling a memorable project during the winter break. She’s going around to the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts, and taking pictures by the signs. And, at the same time, keeping her students positive during the pandemic.
“Keep at it. We are going to turn the corner really soon, and spring is going to be here,” said Brown.
Loffredi also said they are seeing a ton of people doing hotel stays where they are getting great deals because hotels also lost so much money during the pandemic. But if you’re going somewhere out of state, please remember the state-to-state travel restrictions and guidelines.
But most importantly, have fun and be safe.
