BOSTON — Santa Claus is coming to town and his helpers have already been to a lot of towns.
“We’ve gone as far as Marblehead, Gloucester and Newburyport. I’d say the vast majority have been in Boston, but as of now we’re opening to everyone in Massachusetts,” said Robert Harrington.
Harrington and his roommate, Dan Brett, recently launched a Christmas tree delivery service. It’s called Santa Trees Boston.

Customers can place an order on their website for a real tree to be picked up from a tree farm in New Hampshire. The 2018 Boston College grads will then deliver one to your home dressed as Santa.
“People are honking at you as you drive down the street. We’ve had people stop us on the street and take selfies. It’s been really fun, especially during a weird and challenging year,” Brett said.
Due to the pandemic, they said, many people are fearful of crowds, so they don’t want to pick out a tree themselves. Harrington and Brett wear masks and get tested for the coronavirus once a week.
“With COVID, we saw it was very tough for people to get out to tree lots or tree farms, so we figured this would be a cool way for people to get their trees and still be able to celebrate Christmas,” Harrington said.

Business has been brisk. So far, they have delivered nearly 70 Christmas trees. The delivery service starts at about $80 for a 6-foot tree and gets more expensive the bigger the tree. There’s even an option for Brett and Harrington to decorate the tree and haul it away after Christmas.
