Police identify two people killed in East Brookfield crash

EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. — Two people were killed and a third person was seriously injured during a crash in East Brookfield on Monday.

It happened on Route 49 at Flagg Road according to Massachusetts State Police.

On Tuesday, police released the names of the people killed.

State Police say the preliminary investigation indicates a 2021 Nissan Rogue, operated by a Jesus Acevedo, 60, of Fitchburg, was traveling northbound and a 2018 Toyota Tacoma, operated by Daniel Wilmore, 71, from Leicester, was traveling southbound on Route 49 and as the vehicles converged in the area of Flagg Road the Nissan Rogue crossed into the southbound lane and struck the Toyota.

The exact cause of the crash and the reason why the Rogue crossed into the southbound lane remains under investigation.

A passenger in the Toyota, a 28-year-old man from Leicester, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital via ambulance.
