BOSTON — State officials are set to announce the first pair of winners in the VaxMillions vaccine lottery launched to entice more people into getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

Once a week for five weeks, VaxMillions will select one entrant ages 18 and older to win $1 million and one entrant between the ages of 12 and 17 to win a $300,000 scholarship grant.
The program will draw winners on Monday and announce them sometime on Thursday, and Gov. Baker’s office said more details will be announced before the drawing. VaxMillions drew 134,885 entrants between the ages of 12 and 17 and 1,989,986 entrants ages 18 and older by the July 22 deadline for the first round.

Residents must be fully vaccinated by the registration deadline for each week’s drawing to qualify, and they only need to register once to enter every remaining round.
Participants can still register for the remaining four weekly drawings, with deadlines by the end of the day July 29, Aug. 5, Aug. 12, and Aug. 19.
