HAVERHILL (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A middle schooler in Haverhill is facing assault and battery charges after allegedly stabbing her teacher on Wednesday afternoon.
Police in Haverhill responded to the John Greenleaf Whittier Middle School located at 256 Concord Street around 2 p.m. for a reported stabbing.
When officers arrived on scene, they learned a teacher had been stabbed with a pair of scissors by an 12-year-old female student. The scissors did not break the teacher's skin.
Officials say the girl was upset that her science teacher told her to stay in her seat. She allegedly stabbed the teacher when her back was turned.
The identity of the teacher is unknown. The student's identity is being withheld because of her age. The seventh grader will appear in juvenile court at a later date.
