NEW YORK — A man was arrested Friday morning after climbing up the George Washington Bridge in New York City and prompting police to shut down traffic on one deck of the bridge.
The upper level of the bridge that connects New York and New Jersey on the north side of the city was shut down as police apprehended the man and removed him from the tower he had climbed.
It was not immediately clear why he had climbed the bridge, but some reports indicated police prevented him from jumping.
