WALTHAM, Mass. — A garbage truck fire forced Route 128 northbound to shut down Tuesday morning near Waltham, according to Mass. State Police.
Cars were completely stopped on the roadway as a garbage truck burned in the breakdown lane and a fire suppression system was deployed.
The truck was stopped on the northbound side just past the interchange with the Mass. Pike. Some lanes began to reopen around 11:30 a.m. and the traffic began moving, but would be slow to clear.
