WOODBRIDGE, VA — A moving procession in Virginia honored a New England native killed in the line of duty.
The six-mile procession snaked through the streets Monday, honoring the young police officer who was killed on her first day of work.

The funeral for the Merrimack, NH native will happen in Virginia Tuesday, before Ashley Guindon is brought back to Massachusetts to be buried. Officer Guindon will be laid to rest in West Springfield, where her father is buried.

The 28-year-old was shot and killed Saturday while responding to a domestic violence call. It was her first day on the job, just one day after she was sworn in.
Her police cruiser has now been turned into a growing tribute of flowers.

Officer Guindon was a Merrimack, New Hampshire native. Her high school held a moment of silence Monday in her memory.
