WEYMOUTH, Mass. — Four members of a Massachusetts family killed in a violent car crash while on vacation in Florida were remembered at a funeral service, on Saturday.
Those services took place in Weymouth as dozens of mourners made their way into Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church on a chilly Saturday morning. One of the victims, Josephine Fay, was from South Weymouth.
The heartbroken family of the four souls lost slowly walked toward a series of hearses containing the caskets of Josephine Fay, 76, Julie Smith, 41, and Smith’s children, 11-year-old Jaxon and 5-year-old Scarlett.

“At the beginning of the ceremony they had some remembrances from the family and Bill Sr.’s son spoke and along with several other relatives and young children,” said Peter Tsaffras, who attended the service. “It was very moving, very tasteful.”
Tsaffaras worked with Josephine Fay and went to the funeral to honor her memory and those of her daughter and grandchildren.
“They were great people, they are great people,” he said.
“If I had to sum up in just one word, she was wonderful,” said Kamal Tiku of Julie Smith.
Tiku was one of smith’s coworkers at Liberty Mutual. The Tiku family said that the service was touching.
“It’s about life goes on, life that’s based on faith, believe, goodness,” said Deepak Tiku. “But, at the same time, you look at those small kids, you look at a family that has been shattered, you know our heart goes out to them.”
