BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The Franklin Park Zoo has decided on a name for the female giraffe calf born in October -- Kali.
The zoo recently asked the public to submit names, and, after approximately 500 submissions, the pool was narrowed down to Asha, Ayanna, Grace, Kali and Malaika.
Kali, winning 30 percent of the 800 votes, is a Swahili word meaning "strong, fierce."
The newly-named giraffe can be seen at the Giraffe Savannah exhibit when the temperatures reach at least 65 degrees and it is not raining.
