MILFORD, Mass. — A 21-year-old and three juveniles were arrested for breaking into and vandalizing a church in Milford, Massachusetts, police say.

Police arrested 21-year-old Michael Clifford, along with two 17-year-old's and a 16-year-old, on Friday after they allegedly ransacked the Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Milford.

Police say two of the four were also suspects in a case of vandalism at the Milford High School.

The vandals allegedly recorded videos on Snapchat of them smoking marijuana and drinking wine on the altar during the incident.

Pictures show the lock to the lower church broken, hosts that hadn't been blessed yet that were trashed, and items tossed on the floor after drawers were opened.

"It's very disheartening," Father Peter Joyce said. "I look at it, and I can feel the violence."

There was minimal damage to the main church upstairs, but special vessels were rummaged through with oil spilled on the floor in the sacristy, the workroom of the church.

"They went through everything, but they didn't steal anything," Joyce said. "The things that were posted on social media were things that they did here in the sanctuary of the lower church."

Morning Mass was moved to the chapel as police processed the crime scene, and the church has been blessed once again since the crime.

Now, Father Joyce is hoping to welcome the suspects back to the church to pray with him.

"These are very troubled souls, and the soul is what worries me," Joyce said. "God will forgive them. If God can do that, I need to do it, too."

All four who were arrested face charges including a civil rights violation, causing injury to a church, and breaking and entering.
