TAUNTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Officials say five people have been seriously hurt in a single car crash on Elm Street West near Route 138.
Police say the car appeared to have been speeding before going off of the road and striking a tree. Officials received a call regarding the accident just after 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Fire officials told FOX 25 that three of the most seriously injured people have been flown to area hospitals. Two other injured passengers were taken in ambulances.
A FOX 25 photographer at the scene said that rescue crews had to cut the vehicle open to get to people trapped inside.
Taunton police are on the scene investigating.
