LYNN, Mass. — Investigators said Roman Candle fireworks are to blame for a fire that took over a triple-decker in Lynn on Monday night.
Fireworks are illegal in the state of Massachusetts, and investigators said the person who set them off put six families and 75 firefighters in great danger.
"It was very smokey, usually the smoke goes up and away," said Lynn Fire Captain Joseph Zukas. "This fire stayed down to the ground, not many firefighters you see putting masks on when they’re outside, we usually wear them inside."
One of the fire victims, 50-year-old Jose Rosa, was able to get all his neighbors out. He says he'll never forget what they all went through.

"You think I’m going to forget this," said Rosa. "The rest of my life I’m going to have this pain."
No charges have been filed, but investigators want to remind everyone, as 4th of July is just around the corner, the fireworks are extremely illegal in the state.
Rosa says he's now without a home because of someone else's irresponsible actions.
"The cause of the fire is accidental, it’s caused by fireworks," said Captain Zukas. "The person didn’t intend to burn the house down. It’s a good time to remind the public that fireworks are illegal."
Rosa is frustrated because now, he says he's being forced to start his life over.
"The person that did this or not, thank you - I’m in the street, I'm suffering," said Rosa.
In Massachusetts alone there have been 784 major fire and explosions, 10 people were injured, there were 4 fire service injuries and close to 2 million in property loss.
No charges have been filed yet, but the investigation still isn't over.
