ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Investigators in Attleboro are trying to find out what sparked a fire in a duplex.

Neighbors tell FOX25 they heard explosions before seeing flames.

The entire garage and part of the house were destroyed, a man whose car was in the garage said that is also a total loss.

Flames began around 5 p.m. and it took firefighters more than an hour to get it under control.

“We did hear some possible explosions, there may be some munitions, some possible shotgun shells on the second floor, we haven’t confirmed that yet,” a fire official said.

Investigators said the unit attached to the garage is uninhabitable, it's unclear if the residents of the other damage will be able to move back in due to extensive smoke and water damage.
