HALIFAX, Mass. — A popular restaurant at a Halifax country club was destroyed by fire Sunday night.
An automatic fire alarm at Shanks restaurant alerted fire crews to the blaze around 11 p.m. at The Country Club of Halifax.
Halifax Fire Chief Jason Viveiros said firefighters found heavy fire coming from the back of the restaurant when they arrived.
After about an hour and a half, the fire was contained and did not spread to any other areas of the private club, which includes a golf course, banquet facility and pro shop, but the charred building is expected to be a total loss.
The State Fire Marshal is helping to determine what caused the fire.
