Fire breaks out at Southie Tasty Burger

BOSTON — Fire crews worked to extinguish a blaze at a Southie Tasty Burger overnight.

The fire broke out at the L Street restaurant around 1:45 a.m.

Fire officials told Boston 25 News when crews arrived, they said heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of the -one-story building.

"As a result of (the fire), the integrity of the roof was in question," Boston firefighter Marc Sanders said. "So all firefighters were ordered off the roof for their safety."

In a statement released Friday morning, Tasty Burger said they did not know the cause of the fire because the store was closed, and said the store will remain closed until further notice.

"Most importantly, and our biggest concern right now, is that no one was hurt, and we are truly grateful for this," the statement read. "Our gratitude goes out to the Boston Fire Department, who responded quickly to the fire, and to the Boston Police Department."

No one was inside the restaurant when the fire broke out and no injuries have been reported.

Fire crews said the blaze caused about $150,000 in damage.
