Ferry loses power for second time in three days

Ferry service was delayed again as the M/V Martha's Vineyard lost power for the second time in three days.

During its 1:15 p.m. trip from Vineyard Haven to Woods Hole, one of the ferry's generators briefly lost power, the Steamship Authority said in an alert Monday afternoon.

The ferry's other generator started up after the loss of power, and there wasn't any loss of propulsion for the ship.

The United States Coast Guard cleared the ferry to resume service shortly after, but one trip from Woods Hole was delayed about 20 minutes, and another from Vineyard Haven was delayed about 10 minutes.
