A ferry heading for Vineyard Haven lost power and was docked Saturday night.

The ferry, named M/V Martha's Vineyard, was backing out of Woods Hole Slip 2 for a 5 p.m. trip to Vineyard Haven when it temporarily lost power and had to drop anchor.

The ferry's engines restarted shortly after, and the ferry was returned back to the slip where it was then docked for the night.

The crew's call to the Coast Guard said they "are going to need assistance, we have a couple hundred on board."

Some other ferry trips were delayed throughout the night, and the M/V Martha's Vineyard's trips for the rest of the night were canceled.

"This boat was sitting here when we got here, and they said it will be a half hour," Eamon Colbert said. "It really wasn't it was like four hours."
