Ferry company cancels trips after Provincetown-bound boat runs aground in Boston

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A Provincetown ferry carrying over 100 passengers ran aground in Boston Harbor on Saturday morning.

Officials told FOX 25 that the ferry was carrying 149 when it ran aground.

There were no injuries reported in the incident. All of the passengers were being transferred to a second Provincetown ferry at around 10 a.m.

The Coast Guard planned to tow the ferry at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday during high tide.

The Bay State Cruise Company cancelled their fast ferry service to Provincetown after the inciden.  Ferry service was restored on Sunday.

In an alert posted on their website, the company blamed the cancellation on "unforseen circumstances." They promised to accomodate passengers who already booked with the company by either transporting them to and from Provincetown via a privately chartered motorcoach or by having their tickets honored by another fast ferry company.
