BOSTON — A family is trying to piece together what happened after their mother was found lying near a crosswalk, seriously injured Friday morning.
“I was terrified. I though the one person in my life was gone,” said Emily Pontz.
Pontz said that her mother, Kim Longmore, was crossing the street like she does every day at Corey Road and Washington Street in Brighton, near the Brookline line.
Someone hit her mom and kept driving, lying her there for about an hour, she said.
“I’m sure they know they hit her because of how much force and damage was done to her body,” said Lizzie Pontz, Longmore's daughter.
Two Good Samaritans found Longmore unconscious and seriously injured near the crosswalk, and they called for help.
Longmore's daughters told FOX25 that she suffered a ruptured spleen, broken femur and ribs, and a fracture in her recently replaced left knee.
“She was hooked up to every single machine you could think about they had to give blood to her b/c she lost so much from her spleen. I thought she was close to being dead,” said Lizzie Pontz.
Longmore works as the head secretary at Driscoll Elementary School in Brookline, which is only a few blocks from where she was hit.
On Sundays, her works in her hometown of Weymouth, helping adults with special needs.
Anyone with information about what happened should contact Boston Police.
The family has also started a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses.
