BOSTON — The heartbroken families of two doctors killed in their South Boston condo Friday night are in mourning, for the lives that were and the future that could have been.

Dr. Richard Field and Dr. Lina Bolanos were planning to get married at the end of the year in Colombia so she could be surrounded by her family.

"They were a fantastic match. She was just as outgoing and adventurous as my brother. She was just as dedicated as he was to work,” Field’s brother Jason said.

Both were anesthesiologist. Bolanos worked at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Field at North Shore Pain Management.

Jason said the two bonded over being immigrants. While Lina was from Colombia, Richard was from England.

Jason and his brother moved to California with their mother when they were young. The brothers - two years apart in age, moved to Massachusetts 10 years ago.

"We relied heavily on each other. Coming to a new country, our bond was very tight. That's why he was so close to my kids. He was like a second father to them,” he said.

In addition to several nieces and nephews, Richard also leaves behind his father, who lives in London, and his mother and younger sister, who live in California.
