WEYMOUTH, Mass. — The handcuffs once used by Officer Michael Chesna were placed on the man accused of shooting him to death over the weekend, according to police.
When Emanuel Lopes was brought into a courtroom to be arraigned on charges he shot and killed Officer Chesna and 77-year-old Vera Adams, police say he was handcuffed using Chesna's cuffs.
Lopes, 20, pleaded not guilty to murder charges during his arraignment on Tuesday.
He is accused of attacking Sgt. Chesna with a rock and using Chesna's own gun to shoot the officer 10 times. Police say he later shot Adams through the window of her home.
Chesna's funeral is set for Friday.
His obituary has been posted online.
