Everett woman allegedly robbed in broad daylight by neighbor

EVERETT, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Everett police are investigating after a woman was allegedly robbed in broad daylight by her neighbor.

Officers at the Everett Police Department say they caught the suspect in the act while he was heading back inside the Everett woman's home to take more items. And on Thursday night, the victim targeted has a message for that neighbor.

Donna Knight has long called a Morris Street neighborhood home.

"It's a beautiful neighborhood too and I have great neighbors but for this to happen I feel very violated," she said.

But Thursday, police say a new neighbor was not so nice after Donna returned to her home to find it ransacked and robbed.

"My house was in disarray everything go was torn apart," she said. "Thrown all over the place broken glass broken mirrors."

Police say 27-year-old Richard Tilton broke-in in broad daylight, and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, electronics and more.

Officers quickly recovered the items after catching the suspect red-handed, going back inside for more. Knight says it a relief to have what was stolen returned to her, but what she can't replace is her sense of security.

"You know you want to be able to know that when you lock your doors when you go off to work that, you know, you feel safe," she said.

The suspect is being held on $500 bail after pleading not guilty to a slew of charges. Police say their quick work catching him was thanks to a good neighbor reporting the crime.
