NANTUCKET, Mass. — The effects of Tropical Storm Jose are still being felt on the Cape and Islands Thursday, and while the heavy rain is over the area will still have to deal with strong wind and heavy surf.

Nantucket is expected to experience rough weather until at least the weekend.

The winds, rain and waves are starting to wash away beaches, and some local residents said they are afraid to see how much of the shoreline is being washed away in places like Sconset Beach and Cod Fish Park.

Ferry trips to and from Nantucket have been cancelled due to high winds and rough seas, but they could resume sometime Thursday.
