Emergency crews rescue dog from Medfield well

MEDFIELD, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - Police and tactical teams are working together to rescue a dog that fell in a Medfield well.

According to neighbors, the dog was chasing a squirrel when it ran on to the wooden cover for a well, which the collapsed.

"I saw which way he ran. I saw the hole. I lifted the piece of wood that was over it. I saw him, freaked out, called 9-1-1,” Kemper Dorsey, the dog's owner, said.

The dog fell into the well Tuesday morning. It was rescued shortly before 1 p.m.

"We were dealing with a potentially unstable old brick well approximately 35-40 feet deep. So we had to get down in there and luckily the dog was friendly,” Norfolk Technical Rescue Chief Robert Spurr said.
