Much-needed downpours are making for a difficult commute Wednesday morning.

The showers really picked up overnight and continued into the morning, leaving commuters with flooded roads and traffic.

As of 7 a.m., Worcester got over 2” of rain, while Springfield got 4” of rain. Those totals are expected to increase as the rain continues.

Boston 25 News Traffic Anchor Julie Grauert kept an eye on accidents that caused backup on Route 24. Delays also built on the Expressway and flooding closed two lanes of traffic on the Pike.

The rain impacted, not only those on the roads, but rails and ferries, too.

A flash flood watch and wind advisory are in effect through the morning. The flash flood watch is in effect for the Cape until 4 p.m. and the Islands until 8 p.m.
