Dog left to die along highway needs your help

REVERE, Mass. — A dog hit by a car and left to die along the highway needs the public's help.

Last Thursday, a man stopped on the side of Route 1A to help an injured dog that was hit by a car.

The man called three different police stations looking for help, but to no avail. Then, he turned to Ocean View Kennel in Revere, where they gave the dog the name "Freeway."

Freeway can't walk so he was rushed to the North Shore Animal Hospital in Lynn. Veterinarians found that he has a broken leg and pelvis.

Freeway's surgery is going to cost thousands of dollars, so Lisa Cutting, of Ocean View Kennels set up a Gofundme account to raise money for the costs.

Thanks to very generous FOX25 viewers, enough money was raised for Freeway to go into his first surgery on Monday. He will need several surgeries and vets say he has a lengthy recovery process ahead.
