BOSTON (AP) - Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Edward Markey has established a joint fundraising committee with the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
The Markey Senate Victory committee was created on April 17, according to a filing with the Federal Election Committee.
Joint fundraising committees collect contributions, pay fundraising expenses and distribute net proceeds to two or more committees.
Fellow Democratic congressman and Senate hopeful Stephen Lynch reported raising $1.5 million.
Markey is already leading the fundraising battle in Massachusetts' special U.S. Senate election having collected about $4.8 million since jumping into the race.
Of the three GOP hopefuls, Gabriel Gomez reported raising $1.2 million including $600,000 he loaned his campaign, compared with Michael Sullivan who raised $174,498 and Daniel Winslow, who raised $394,549, with $158,550 coming out of his own pocket.
The primaries are next Tuesday.
