BOSTON — Delta passengers experienced severe delays Monday as the airline dealt with a system wide computer outage that grounded all flights.
Delta tweeted early Monday morning that their computer systems were "down everywhere." The outage began around 2:30 a.m. in Atlanta before spreading worldwide.
Lines piled up at Logan Airport while people waited for their flights. Delta said to expect large-scale cancellations. The flight status systems, including airport screens, incorrectly showed flights on time during the outage.

Around 5:30 a.m., Logan Airport was able to get one computer up and running.
Just before 6 a.m., Detla announced that Logan passengers could check in for their flights, but couldn't call up their flight plans.
Just after 8 a.m., the 6:15 a.m. flight from Boston to Raleigh began to board.
At 8:40 a.m., Delta announced the ground stop had been lifted and that departures would be resuming. The airline said passengers should still expect cancellations and delays.
The problems were worldwide. A passenger in Iceland tweeted out a photo of lines building up as travelers waited for the issue to be resolved.
Delta apologized for the outage and published a waiver for customers traveling on August 8 through August 12.
