ROCKLAND, Mass. — A dad of three boys and a member of the National Guard is back home with his family just in time for the holidays.

Sgt. Michael Leone, of Rockland, surprised his sons at school on Friday. He dressed up as the school's mascot before the big reveal. His sons thought they were getting an award, but they got so much more.

"I kind of started to tear up and was like, oh my God! I'm finally back with the boys. It was a very nice feeling," Leone said.

Sgt. Leone had been deployed to Africa, and is now home after 10 months away. He said he won't be deployed again as he's returning to work as a corrections officer at Boston's Nashua Street Jail.

"Just spending time with them, trying to catch up. I just want to catch up on everything, see what I've missed."
