WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) - A former cheerleading coach was arraigned Monday on charges of allegedly raping an underage female athlete.
The Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said 26-year-old Nicholas Johnson has been charged with aggravated rape of a child, enticement of a minor and posing a child in a state of nudity.
The District Attorney's office said while working as a cheer coach at Full House All Stars Cheerleading gym, Johnson had a sexual relationship with one of his gymnastic students.
Nicholas was employed for about one year at the West Bridgewater gym. The victim said during that time, Johnson assaulted her on one occasion, and another assault was off the gym property, according to police.
Police approached Johnson on Oct. 14 with the allegations. That same day, police Johnson was involved in a single vehicle accident on Route 24 north, and was treated at Norwood Hospital. After being released from the hospital, police arrested him.
He was fired from Full House All Stars last week, said the District Attorney's office. Full House All Stars staff did not answer the phone at the gym on Wednesday, and a woman at the building declined to comment. Tumbling class was canceled for the night, staff announced on the gym Facebook page, but no reason was cited.
An attorney for Johnson could not be reached. Johnson remained in jail on $50,000 bond Wednesday night. He will appear in court next on Nov. 18.
