WINCHESTER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Following an extensive investigation into a fire that occurred on Copley Street in Winchester on May 18, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office has determined that there is not enough evidence to support that the blaze was intentionally set.
According to the State Fire Marshal, the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Based on this information, the office will not pursue criminal prosecution, and the case is now closed.
The fire broke out at 2 Copley St. around 5:15 a.m.
The residence, which is owned by retired Winchester Police Officer Jim Covino, was completely destroyed in the blaze. The family also lost everything inside the home, including the family pets.
