AMESBURY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A former Amesbury police officer has been arrested and charged with numerous offenses related to child pornography and rape of a child.
Police arrested 62-year-old David J. Connor, who lives in Amesbury, Thursday morning after a 10-month long investigation.
Connor, who worked at the Amesbury Police Department for 14 years and retired in 1991 as a sergeant, has been charged with aggravated rape and abuse of a child, two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, three counts of possession of child pornography, along with one count of indecent exposure.
Last August, the victim, who knew Connor, reported being sexually abused multiple times over a multi-year period that started when the victim was 4 years old.
After that report, police seized Connor's phones and a computer, sending it to the Peabody Police Department for forensic analysis. Experts reported finding "explicit images and videos of children" on his computer.
Connor is set to be arraigned in Amesbury District Court later Thursday.
